Something Old, Something New

Our new garden is a good one for exploring, not so big, but interesting.
There's lots to discover and we find ourselves out there often.

I pulled up some weeds and discovered a chilli plant...with chillies. Yey.

Our old pot plants are newly fascinating to little people,
and on closer inspection....
we found a few snails and a frog who had come along for the journey too!

Layla is at the picking stage, succulents being her favourite,
she seems to think they taste nice too.

Skye is currently enamoured of her little yellow watering can.

I'm not sure how long this plant will survive Layla's attentions.

I was wondering what to put on this plinth but it seems to be Skye and Layla's favourite spot.. problem solved.

This place...

This was our last real day in this house, tomorrow the boxes will be in a lorry and we'll be camping on the floor, waiting to clean up the next day and head to our new home.

Its been good to us this house.

The beautiful views across the water.... misty mornings & the night lights of Albany.
Huge windows, facing north - letting in the light and the warm winter sun.
We've enjoyed sitting out the front on our old hospital bed, or picnicing on the lawn
watching the world (or a very small part of it) go by.

We've loved the space, the big rooms.....
we've been free to move, dance & roll about
....and our mess shows less.

The brown vinyl and acyrylic brown floral pub style carpet
wouldn't have been my 1st choice of floor covering,
but it turns out they are perfect when you have 2 children under 3!

Our 1st day here.

Layla was only 2 weeks old when we moved in.

Arthur wearing the same hat as the gnome.

Our lemon tree had hundreds of lemons.

Beautiful plants and lots of birds, including some little blue wrens.

Room to dance....

and ride a bike.
Enjoying the outside.

Look at the view chicken!

Good Times.

Saturday 11 August 2012

Just another Thursday morning......

We woke to a bright windless day,
the water out side our window
still as a mill pond.

We decided that it was the day for a trip out to Two Peoples Bay.

We played frisbee, kicked balls, paddled, rock climbed...
generally had a great day at the sea side,
at possibly one of the most perfect beaches that you could imagine.

If I ever start to take this stuff for granted..... please someone, kick me!

Little Beach

Hmmm not bad for mid winter.
One shoe wonder

Surf's up

On Sunday I went to bed feeling totally physically exhausted for the 1st time in a long while
Its a good feeling.
Quite different to just plain old exhausted.

The reason...
Becca and I decided it was time to become surf chicks.

As females we decided it was better to get a lesson rather than assume we knew all about it
 Good plan.
The waves were big, we played in the white water.

We caught a lot of waves.
We both stood up........briefly.

Last time I tried surfing I got pummelled and had water coming out of my nose for days.
This was much better, I want to try it again.

Prize for cool surf chick has to go to Skye!

Checking conditions.
Small people wondering what is so hard about crawling?

'Where's Rebecca?'

That's a 'big wave' in case you were wondering?!
